And so it began. Abby had prior experience refinishing, as she grew up learning from her parents doing it here and there. I grew up with a very handy father who could fix anything and always had projects going. Between that and the Internet, we were out in Abby's driveway almost daily sanding, painting, even reupholstering. (This must have been Sept 2013??)
So next thing you know we headed across the street with our "THERE" cards to go brainstorm on starting a business. It was a crazy, fun, spontaneous beginning to Sueper Shabby (get it??). Certainly not something we ever planned.
Abby and I both love to get a good deal. And when we do, we tell everyone. One of the first things we decided when we started this business was that we wanted to offer a great product at a great price. Our "niche" started out to be #abbysart . Furniture that had artwork painted on it by Abby. She is such a talented artist! I never even knew it. When I was painting one of the pieces from my basement I remember saying to her, I wish I could put a hibiscus on this. She said, I can do that no problem. It's amazing to watch her. I am such a perfectionist, to see her just freehand anything you ask her to is awesome to watch. I would probably spend 30 minutes just fining the exact center of the piece!!
In 2016 we are going to try to focus more on something that we dabbled a bit with in 2015.... room remodels. We are by no means professional interior designers, but we do have a good eye for being able to do some simple changes that can completely change a room. We love to help people use what they already have, but refinish to make it more current and to suit their style. All, of course, for a fabulous price. We do paint kitchen (and bathroom for that matter) cabinets as well.
This was one of our most sought-after pieces. The first to grab it raced down from Pennsylvania after seeing it on Facebook!
