Only the best of music, cocktails, shopping and conversation could have pulled people from the beautiful evening outside the door of 40 West Street for the opening night of HERE. “Homegrown in Annapolis” The turquoise walls were dressed with prints of oysters and Annapolis, originals of vibrant sea life, driftwood fish, rustic wooden flags, and images reminding us to “Imagine.” The large, handpainted boat that welcomed guests at the door could have easily made the entrance the focal point, but the swinging ropes, flicking café lights, and glowing lanterns beckoned you further in to find fall fashions, beautiful home furnishings, unique jewelry, and the most personable of stationary. With Amy and El’s trademark smiles and warm conversation, each night proved as difficult as the last (tenth) night to turn off the lights and say goodbye to “Lucky #13.”
Making this particular shop all the more memorable were the personal pieces that debuted. Ellen’s daughters’ launched stationary featuring their own designs and photography. T-shirts designed by Amy and El themselves were a huge hit for the #fancypants in the crowd and the dreamcatcher motif on one shirt was mirrored by the beautiful, crocheted dreamcatchers hanging from the ceiling. Also for the first time, the HERE. logo could be found directly on the tees, as well as knit hats, with Amy and El’s own autograph gracing each one, the first of many products in the girls' new "HERE. and NOW xo, Amy & El" line.
With each shop it is hard to say goodbye, but with THREE! more shops planned before the end of the year, we thank every one of our customers, as well as the great city of Annapolis, and wish a hearty CHEERS! to HERE.!
